What better way to encourage a career in science than to
start at any early age? For several years, SBRI’s well-regarded BioQuest
science
education program has steadily grown, now reaching nearly 2,000 high school
students and their teachers each year.
Students from the Northwest get an opportunity
to enjoy hands-on science, peering over the
shoulders of world-class infectious disease
researcher. The program offers several
opportunities, including site visits, teacher
workshops and student internships.
The SBRI Building at 307 Westlake has a dedicated space for
its BioQuest science education program on the first floor. BioQuest links
high school students, teachers, and the general public with the research being
done by SBRI scientists on the fourth and fifth floors of the building.
The BioQuest Science Gallery serves as a community "living room" for life
sciences with exhibits that depict the challenges and hopes of global infectious
disease. Adjacent to the gallery is the BioQuest Learning Lab, an
authentic working lab that can accommodate a full class of 32 students.
