Global Health Biotechnology Center: Protein Production

This Core provides protein production and purification services for bacteria, mammalian and wheat germ expressions systems (from 0.5 mg to ~100 mg depending on the system), as well as related consultation for further research and development with immune-based assays, diagnostics, drug targets and vaccines.

As a centralized service, the Protein Production Core uses its expertise to deliver the most efficient production process and quality products possible, while reducing the time, cost, and effort required for individual programs to produce their own proteins for research. The facility is overseen by two faculty Scientific Advisors, Dr. Peter Myler and Dr. Leo Stamatatos, and the Core is staffed with a Core Manager and several experienced technicians.

The facility is equipped with CellFree Sciences Protemist DTII instrument (small scale in-vitro protein expression and purification), a 50-place roller bottle cabinet for mammalian cell expression, AKTA Prime FLPC system, as well as fermentors, HPLC systems, and other specialized equipment for purification and characterization of recombinant proteins.

Pricing is based on expression systems, expression levels, reagents cost, protein property/stability and development efforts of individual proteins.

To get more information about SBRI’s protein production facility, please contact the Core Manager, Dr. John Tang, (206) 256.7167.
