BioQuest Academy’s mission is to educate, train and promote college-readiness in ALL Washington teens, especially under-represented groups, on the science of global infectious disease.
Bioquest Academy: Education and Outreach mission is “Educate, train and promote college-readiness in ALL Washington teens including under-represented teens in the science of global infectious disease”
At the Center for Infectious Disease Research we are working on the edge of host-pathogen interactions to find the cures for global infectious diseases like HIV, TB, Malaria through of vaccines, drugs and interventions. At BioQuest we take the research done at the Center and deliver as curriculum to high school students and teachers, through our host of interconnected programs such as Teacher Workshops, Site visits and Summer Academy. We are proud to be a unique nationally recognized outreach program to be located within the footprint of an infectious disease research institute. Check out our 2015 Brag sheet to learn how we support learning and career development.
Local companies and philanthropies and individuals give to our education program to ensure the sustainability of BioQuest Academy. Visit the CID Research GIVE page to learn how your gift can change local lives and global health.

Site Exploration for Teachers
BioQuest’s Site Explorations, specialized half-day job shadows for an entire class of high school students, are the ideal way to illuminate the connection between classroom course work and rewarding 21st century science careers. During the school day, a class of up to 30 high school students experience our Center's education and research labs for an introduction to global health, converse with Center for Infectious Disease Research scientists; and best of all, complete their day with a hands-on laboratory investigation in the BioQuest Discovery Lab. Explorations are currently on hold, but please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know of your interest and we will add you to our teacher directory list to receive the most up-to-date information about upcoming site explorations and other resources.
2015 Teacher workshop: Innovative Vaccines for Infectious agents was successfully completed February 4th, 2015. 32 teachers from across the state of Washington attended. Supported by the Amgen foundation this workshop featured a electric discussion in system’s biology and infectious disease titled Innovative vaccines for Infectious disease.
